Native to the rainforests of India and Southeast Asia, the Ficus Burgundy (Ficus elastica), or Rubber Tree, as it is more commonly known, is a evergreen tropical houseplant with broad, glossy, burgundy-toned leaves on tall brown stalks. The sap that the plants emits, once used to make latex, is considered poisonous, so make sure to secure the plant out of reach of furry friends and small children. The Burgundy Ficus enjoys bright light, moist soil and fertilizer during the growing season.
